EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
This document is the basis for the development of the FLYSFE database server. Objective of the design and development is to obtain a piece of equipment hosting a software-function to manage avionics databases. For the design and analysis, modern techniques like the Unified Modelling Language (UML) and the eXtendible Markup Language (XML) have been used.

The database server will be responsible for delivering all kinds of data to multiple connected clients. This specification analyses the needs of a common database server and defines typical usage scenarios. For accessing the data inside the database server a detailed description of the software interface is given. Furthermore the identified software components are described.
