The work package shall develop the roadmaps leading to a comprehensive exploitation of the results of the FLYSAFE project. For this reason the task contains:
* a documentation of benefits of the new functionalities
* the identification of exploitation avenues
* the development of an exploitation plan document
The task will also identify some future research tasks for technologies for which exploitation is not immediately obvious.
The main application area that is anticipated is in the domain of large commercial aircraft. However, a certain amount of the work that is performed on this project is likely to also be applicable to helicopter applications and regional aircraft. Through the participation of two major European airframers, Airbus and Eurocopter, the market relevance of the results will be assured throughout the programme.
New functionalities (and underlying aspects such as new standards, components, tools, methods and technologies) shall be analysed concerning industrialisation and utilisation in future realisations, e.g. future air/ground system concepts or future cockpit integration/layouts. As well, operational procedures – on ground and in flight – could be influenced by the project results.
WP 7 members will especially encourage the process of filing new patents.
The main exploitation trend will be in the joint development of the safety functions to be integrated on NG ISS products. FLYSAFE will provide them with the best European expertise to design and evaluate the NG ISS functions to ensure the global goal of improving safety while the air traffic is increasing. The participation of aircraft manufacturer, operational stakeholders – through the EEAG – and operational experts such as Avtech, Use2aces and Deep Blue can be considered as the best guarantee for an efficient exploitation of FLYSAFE results by all partners.
The exploitation plan will address all data for a full marketing of new products and will include different possible product layouts and add-on functionalities.
Marketing channels will be specified and relevant patent applications will be made.
