Work Package 6: Evaluation and Results Assessment
Figure 37: WP 6 Inputs / Outputs

WP 6 will be used to set up the tools to evaluate the various developments performed during the FLYSAFE project, either by means of flight testing, by means of a full flight simulation, or by means of fast time simulations. In a flight simulator the safety of flight can be investigated in a safe, controlled and cost effective way. That’s why the flight tests will be mainly devoted for those aspects that can not be as easily evaluated in the simulator.

The objectives of WP6 are:

  • to set up and enable the final NG ISS piloted evaluation at the Full Flight Simulator (FFS):
  • Evaluate the new cockpit MMI and the associated new, strategic flight safety functions for prevention of terrain, weather and traffic issues, like runway incursions, CFIT, Approach and Landing Accidents etc.
  • to set up and enable part task Flight Testing (FT) of some innovative functions of the NG ISS:
  • Evaluate new weather radar modes
  • Evaluate weather datalink management and weather data fusion
  • Record weather data during Flight Test
  • to develop training material on the NG ISS concept, as required for potential end-users and other  stakeholders.
  • to appraise the capacities of the NG ISS to improve safety and human factors aspects, like for instance Situation Awareness (SA), by comparing experimental results achieved with the (safety, SA) objectives set, via new developed metrics.

The main work package is divided into 7 work packages.
