WP 5.6 Database server implementation

This work package aims at the definition, development and integration of a database server which manages the avionics databases. It is to be installed on-board large aircraft.
The database server provides the various system functions with on demand dedicated sets of data extracted from the different databases. The amount of data and their periodical update constraints advocate the use of a database server as a central means of distribution and configuration management.
This WP will provide various functions or applications with a dedicated set of data, managed and monitored from just one central location.  The main objective of the database server is to provide a general functionality to manage various databases independently, to interface and authenticate with several applications and to control and monitor data access, data storage, and data updates.
Diehl Avionik Systeme GmbH together with Jeppesen GmbH will be the main contributors of this work package. Diehl Avionik Systeme will be responsible of the hardware and part of the management software. Jeppesen will be responsible for the database furniture, format, and processing.
