This work package is dedicated to define displays, controls and audio management tasks of the Cockpit Display System (CDS). This work package will define on one hand, the display and audio presentations, and on the other hand, the Human Machine Interface to control new features developed in FLYSAFE.
It shall include the following function prototyping:
the audio alerts capabilities,
the HMI interface functions for the CDS:
new extended Navigation Display (ND) and Vertical Situation Display (VSD):
with a cartographic and 2D shaded Terrain Display, associated awareness features and new functionalities related to terrain, traffic, and weather,
with interactive features on 2D displays (e.g. safety altitude presentation),
and the Intelligent Crew Support (ICS) functionality,
a ND 3D display with advanced symbology, a 3D terrain presentation, terrain awareness, 3D flight path, 3D traffic and weather,
a basic PFD, with possibly new guidance cue features, but without a 3D terrain presentation and interactivity.
The HMI of the Head Up Display (HUD) with extended functionalities, particularly for the approach and take-off phases.
The HMI interface functions for the Side Displays (weather chart, aircraft documentation, procedures, manuals…)
Furthermore, we will describe the Human Machine Interface to control the new features developed. This description will focus on cockpit design with particular emphasis on additionally needed hardware or software controls to support new functionalities.
THALES Avionics will lead this work package and provide its expertise on display hardware and software development.
