Leader: UK MET OFFICE

WP 2 Inputs-Outputs

WP 2 Inputs / Outputs

The main work package is broken down into three parts, listed below:
WP2 will develop the capability to provide data on all meteorological hazards, to the NG ISS. As a preamble to developing this capability, studies must be performed to quantify the sensitivity of aircraft to the various meteorological hazards.
The focus is and should be on the Flight Safety aspects, however, for the customers the information system will have an impact on the normal everyday operation affecting also the optimisation of operation.
The workpackage  will also address institutional issues related to the merging of European weather observation and forecast systems in order to provide information to the “Single European Sky” ["SESAME"] initiative. Finally, optimum use of the weather information by all actors in flight and on the ground will be raised through the coordination with concurrent integrated projects in C-ATM.
The key objective is to provide the pilot in real-time flight with most recent and comprehensive adverse weather information for its immediate environment and the flight ahead to the final destination.
