Once the requirements have been clearly identified at all levels, they will be converted into specifications, at two levels.
The first step will consist of designing the overall system specification including operational needs, interfaces, safety assessment, and aircraft installation.
The system specification will provide high level guidelines on the system architecture, for example surveillance shall be segregated from the navigation and communication means.
The outcomes of this work package will be:
- A system level specification to be used to specify each sub-system accordingly
- An interface definition (High level ICD)
- Project integration process detailed definition
- A preliminary aircraft installation assessment
The second step will consist of designing the specifications related to each of the four fields of research:
- Atmospheric phenomena awareness
- Traffic awareness
- Terrain awareness
- Information fusion & HMI
These specifications will drive the work to be performed in WP 2, WP 3, WP 4 and WP 5 respectively.
