The Transversal Groups

Some specific issues which cannot be isolated within one WP require coordination across different WPn at second level. To deal with them, transversal groups are set up. They are described in this section.
These transversal groups will be created and closed as relevant in the course of the project.

Overall system aspects transversal group
(Leader: THALES Avionics)

It will group WP2.2 and 2.3 members. Its task will be to ensure consistency at all stages between the work performed on ground (WP2.2) and on-board (WP2.3) and the interfaces of the systems.

HMI transversal group
(Leader: Airbus France)

It will group all partners involved in the displays development and use. Its task will be to ensure consistency at all stages of the project of the design, specifications, and development of the on-board HMI elements.

Data links transversal group
(Leader: NLR)

It will group all partners involved in the data links development and use. Its task will be to ensure consistency at all stages of the project of the design, specifications, and development of the data links,  upwards and downwards.

Databases transversal group
(Leader: Diehl Avionik Systeme)

It will group all partners involved in the data links development and use. Its task will be to ensure consistency at all stages of the project of the design, specifications, and development of the databases, on ground and onboard.

Certification transversal group
(Leader: THALES Avionics)

It will group all partners involved in the on-board system certification. Its task will be to ensure that all certification aspects are properly and timely handled during the project.

Institutional issues transversal group
(Leader: UK Met)

The exploitation of the projects results will require that some issues be solved with national and European institutions, such as: the agreement and adoption by the national weather centres of the WIMS, the acceptance of the use of a  data link for the uplink of WIMS data, and downlink of aircraft data. The institutional issues transversal group will group all the different partners able to contribute to solve these issues.

External Expert Advisory Group (EEAG)
The FLYSAFE consortium has the support of a number of external partners, such as pilots, airlines, ATM representatives, and certification authorities. These experts have committed themselves to contribute to FLYSAFE. They are gathered in the External Expert Advisory Group (EEAG)
The EEAG is of course a transversal group, but based on external parties. For that reason, it is described separately here.
